Children learning in a classroom in Kenya

What We Do

Our Programs

Mahonri Foundation runs targeted programs designed to address the root causes of poverty and inequality — empowering individuals, families, and communities to build better futures.

Areas of Focus

Programs We Run

Education

Education Support Program

We believe education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Our education support program provides school fees assistance, learning materials, and mentorship to children and youth from low-income families, ensuring they stay in school and reach their full academic potential.

  • School fees sponsorship for vulnerable children
  • Provision of uniforms, books, and stationery
  • After-school tutoring and mentorship
  • Scholarship programs for secondary and tertiary education
Livelihoods

Livelihood & Economic Empowerment

We equip community members — especially women and youth — with practical skills and resources to generate sustainable income. Through vocational training, micro-enterprise support, and financial literacy, we help people build economic independence.

  • Vocational skills training in tailoring, carpentry, and ICT
  • Micro-enterprise seed funding and mentorship
  • Financial literacy and savings group formation
  • Market linkages for small business owners
Nutrition

Food Security & Nutrition

Hunger and malnutrition remain critical challenges in many communities we serve. Our food security program provides emergency food relief, supports school feeding initiatives, and promotes sustainable kitchen gardening to improve household nutrition.

  • Emergency food relief for vulnerable households
  • School feeding program for children in low-income areas
  • Kitchen garden training and seed distribution
  • Nutrition education for mothers and caregivers
Health

Health & Wellness Outreach

Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right. Our mobile health outreach program brings essential medical services directly to underserved communities, including screenings, vaccinations, maternal health support, and health education.

  • Mobile clinic visits to remote and underserved areas
  • Maternal and child health support
  • HIV/AIDS awareness and testing
  • Mental health awareness and psychosocial support
Infrastructure

Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Clean water and proper sanitation are essential for health and dignity. We install water access points, build sanitation facilities, and conduct community hygiene training to reduce waterborne diseases and improve quality of life.

  • Installation of community water points
  • Construction and rehabilitation of sanitation facilities
  • Hygiene promotion and handwashing campaigns
  • Community training on water conservation
Social Welfare

Child Protection & Family Support

We are committed to safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of children and vulnerable families. Our child protection program provides psychosocial support, family counselling, and case management for children at risk.

  • Psychosocial support for children and families
  • Family counselling and mediation services
  • Case management for children in difficult circumstances
  • Community awareness on child rights and protection

How We Work

Our Approach

All our programs are community-led and designed with the active participation of the people we serve. We work in partnership with local leaders, government agencies, and international organizations to ensure our interventions are sustainable, culturally appropriate, and impactful.

Community-Led

Programs are co-designed with community members to ensure relevance and ownership.

Sustainable

We build local capacity so communities can sustain progress long after our direct involvement.

Holistic

We address multiple dimensions of wellbeing — education, health, livelihoods, and social welfare.

Accountable

We measure and report our impact transparently to donors, partners, and the communities we serve.
